Step back in time and enjoy an afternoon of smoky jazz standards and foot-stomping early rock ‘n’ roll as Jazz & Jive every fourth Sunday of the month!

Jazz and Jive is a dynamic musical collaboration between Kelly Guthrie (vocals/guitar) and Larry Belton (bass/vocals), two talented and versatile musicians who bring together the smoky elegance of jazz standards and the raw energy of early rock and roll. Drawing on the timeless phrasing of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Etta James, the warmth of Louis Armstrong’s horn, and the foot-stomping drive of Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Bill Haley and His Comets, the duo crafts a set that moves effortlessly between the sultry and the spirited.
Joining Kelly and Larry on stage are feature artists Paul Styles (lead guitar/vocals) and Scott Gould (saxophone), along with various pop-up collaborators who add fresh textures and surprises throughout the afternoon. It’s this shifting, generous lineup that gives Jazz and Jive its live, in-the-moment feel — no two sets ever quite the same, and always built for a crowd that wants to move.
This isn’t a sit-and-listen show — it’s an invitation.
Come for the songs you know, stay for the ones that surprise you, and don’t be afraid to find your feet on the dance floor. Doors open at 1:30pm for a 2pm start, running through to 5pm at Kew Country Club. Tickets are $15, available at the door or via Humanitix. Grab a drink, grab a partner (or don’t — solo dancers welcome too), and let the band do the rest.
