Proud to support the LUSC Friendship Quilters – 100 mastectomy pillows & 30 quilts for those in need!

LUSC Friendship Quilters Continue Supporting the Community Through ClubGRANTS 🧵❤️

For more than 50 years, the LUSC Friendship Quilters have been stitching together more than just quilts—they’ve been creating comfort, compassion and lasting community connections.

Thanks to funding received through the Laurieton United Services Club Category 1 ClubGRANTS Program, the Friendship Quilters will continue their incredible work by producing up to 100 mastectomy pillows for women undergoing breast cancer treatment through Port Macquarie Hospital, along with 30 handmade quilts to be donated to families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Forster.

The grant will assist the group in purchasing essential materials, including wadding, fabric and other supplies needed to create these much-loved items.

Established in the 1970s, the LUSC Friendship Quilters have long been dedicated to bringing women together through friendship and creativity while giving back to the community. Over the decades, the group has generously donated quilts, mastectomy pillows and handmade clothing to local hospitals, Meals on Wheels, people experiencing homelessness and many other community organisations.

With the support of 39 dedicated volunteers, this year’s project is expected to directly benefit around 130 local residents, ensuring those facing difficult circumstances receive a handmade reminder that their community cares.

Laurieton United Services Club is proud to support the Friendship Quilters through its Category 1 ClubGRANTS Program, helping this remarkable group continue making a meaningful difference—one stitch at a time.
