🏆 Major Pennant 2026 – Final Match Report 🏆

The dust has finally settled after one of the most memorable Major Pennant campaigns in our clubs history. It’s hard to put the feeling into words. It’s a bit of a long one, but if you’ve made it this far reading our reports, stick this one out.

15 years has passed since our last Major win back at Cronulla GC vs Roseville in 2011. We always had the belief & determination to get back in the position to do it again, but there was much heartbreak in between – relogation to Div 4, many years of coming 2nd, promotion back to Div 3 & rebuilding a strong team, backed by the amazing culture of our club.

Reflecting on the 2026 season it’s been an 8 week marathon. 2 unbelievable halved matches against Monash really set the tone. Mitch & Robbie winning on 18 were crucial. All matches going down 18 for the return at Woolooware & not 1, but 5 of us making significant putts on the last to scrape a draw – unfathomable.

A strong 2-week performance against Brighton Lakes set us up for glory, but a loss against in Royal Sydney meant we needed the stars to align in round 6. A 7-0 win at our fortress & with the news coming in that Brighton Lakes won their 1 & only match of the year vs Monash, our ticket was sealed. It’s been a season of many moments, of which ALL had to go our way. 15 years in the making.

The Semi was a fairytail – with Jake, Dax & myself in the house, we all held our breathe as Kurt went down the 21st hole to take the win and keep the dream alive.

The Final was a day we’ll never forget. Jake as dominant as ever – his 22nd win in a row. Our Club Champ Robbie, stepping up with a 5&4 win. As the crowd built Andy fought back from 2 down to snatch a 1 up victory. The final moment left to who else but Daxy. Despite being 3 down after 7, it was never in doubt. Par on 18 completed the perfect script – JOB DONE!

To our caddies & the 50+ members who came to watch & cheer us on – the bar staff back at WGC for their support – the well wishes & inspiration from our Directors – thank you!

The hours of preparation from our manager, Dovey & Trent with crucial points in the front end of the season – invaluable. What an incredible club – up the mighty Woolooware

– Father and Son duo winning a Pennant together: an incredibly rare feat. Congrats Kurt and Mitch
– Dax, myself and Mitch winning our 2nd Major Pennant.
