’Twas the night before Christmas, all through the Club,
Not a member was stirring, cause they has all gone.
The bar stools were stacked by the counter with care,
In hopes that on Boxing Day full crowds would be there.
The raffles were finished, the draws had been spun,
The last meat tray winner still bragged that they’d won.
The staff had all clocked off, the lights glowing low,
While tinsel and fairy lights still softly did glow.
When out near the car park there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from the bistro to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we hurried in a flash,
Past the pokies now silent, no music, no cash.
When what to Our wondering eyes should appear,
But a jolly old bloke with a cart full of cheer.
With an esky of Tooheys and a smile on his face,
We knew in a moment—Santa loved this place.
He tipped staff a schooner, checked the specials board twice,
Said “This Club’s done it right—good food, good price!”
Then he sprang to his sleigh, to his reindeer gave a shout,
“See you next year, Club Evans—don’t ever miss out!”
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” 🎅✨
Just a reminder the Club will be closed Xmas Day and reopen Boxing Day at 10am.
