Celebrating our flag & what it represents: Unity, heritage & achievements – Lest We Forget.

Australian National Flag Day – 3rd September

Today we observe Australian National Flag Day, a day of reflection and pride marking the first occasion our national flag was flown on 3rd September 1901 at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.

Our flag holds deep meaning for all Australians:
The Union Jack acknowledges our history and ongoing connection with the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Star represents the unity of our states and territories.
The Southern Cross reflects our place in the world under the southern skies.

Since 1996, Australians have paused on this day to honour our flag as a symbol of our nation’s heritage, achievements, and the values that bind us together.

On this Flag Day, we pay respect to those who have served under our flag, and we recommit ourselves to the ideals it represents.

Lest We Forget. #wp
