Wonderful Grade Pennant start w/ 4-1 win at Cumberland vs Penrith โ›ณ Good luck on Fri vs Elanora!

It was a wonderful start to the Grade Pennant season with a 4-1 win at Cumberland against Penrith.

We had a very strong team, with Deb Timmins, Dinah Moran, first-time WW representative Jen Jones, Moira Frazer, and Barb Foy.

The girls were hugely supported by their caddies, Leanne Varney, Lynette Goodwin, Lynne Willis, Louise Shaw, and Leanne Matthews.

Good luck, ladies, at Penrith next Friday against Elanora.

Major Pennant Round 2: Woolooware 3*5, Monash 3*5 โ›ณ Epic comeback w/ Jake’s clutch birdie putt to tie it!

Major Pennant Round 2

~~~ Woolooware 3.5 – 75 Monash 3.5 ~~~
What a crazy day! We were greeted by persistent drizzle this past Sunday as we returned to Woolooware for the home leg of our fixture vs Monash. After a close battle and a draw last week, we knew we’d be in for a fight, but boy were we tested.
Monash came out strong and took leads in most matches. At half way it was looking quite dire for our boys, but that’s when we dug deep and turned the tide.
Andy Houghton playing at Reserve, won his final 2 holes to forge out a Draw. A good dress rehearsal for future weeks when we’ll need him in the counting 7. Kurt Rugless was next down 18. Having made an important short sided up and down from the right pot on 16, Kurt made another crucial Par on 18 up secure a Halved match. Yours truly (Chris Jamieson), looked down and out, after going 3 down through 10. An important up and down from the bunker on 12 kept his opponent within arms length, and then riding the momentum, we won 4 of our last 6 holes to clinch the match 1 up. Mitch and Robbie unfortunately couldn’t edge out their opponents, both losing 1 down, however Dax steadied the ship with a nice putt for Par on the last to secure a 2 up victory. Trent also held his nerve to claim an important half a point on 18 – a tidy up and down from 20m was required to get the job done.
Once again, our attention turned to Jake at #1. With the overall score at 3-3 and Jakey 1 down in his match, we were staring a home defeat down the barrel. A booming drive to 40m out, and a wedge in tight set up a Birdie putt to win the hole and halve his match, and tie up the overall result. Coming up clutch (check out the video), Jake binned it center cup in front of many of our supporters! In all of our years of Pennants, I’m not sure any of us had ever seen all 8 matches go up 18!
Looking back on both weeks, we look positively on the shared results against a strong Monash side, and we now look forward to notching up our first win of the year vs Brighton Lakes at HOME. First tee time approx 945am at Woolooware. If you’ve made it this far, thanks for sticking around ๐Ÿซถ we’ll see you down at WGC this Sunday Round 3 #wooloowaregolf #wp
