Members celebrate International Women’s Day w/ champagne as Margi & Karen claim Chick of the Walk win!

It was the perfect time to celebrate International Women’s Day with the Chick of the Walk final played at Woolooware today.
It was a long and wet day for the finalists and our winners Margi Collins and Karen Parker battled it out to the end, defeating Barb Foy and Geraldine Earl 2/1.
Congratulations to both teams, enduring the 4 week event.
Inside the club and keeping dry, members lunched, sang and sipped on champagne, celebrating women’s resilience and successes.
We were also treated to a question time with some very inspirational, top Australian water polo players and their coach, Jacki Northam.
Members generously bought raffle tickets to help fund their team’s travel to Perth in a couple of weeks.

Tough 4*5/0*5 loss for Bronze 1 vs Cronulla @ Lakeside – proud of our effort, on to the next challenge!

A tough day at the office for Bronze 1 today playing at Lakeside against Cronulla. The team went down 4.5/0.5 but were very relieved not to be playing in the rain as previously predicted.
Woolooware are always complimented on their pink pennant shirts which certainly look great out on the course.
Team: Geraldine Earl, Louise Shaw, Janeen Dargaville, Sandy Crestani and Julie Morris

Major Pennant Update – Round 6: A big 5-2 win but a tough 2nd place finish – back stronger next year!

Major Pennant Update – Round 6

The boys made their way out to Strathfield today with only 1 option – WIN, and see what Springwood can do in response. It has been many years since we’ve had 1 away win, let alone 2,but the team were fired up to give us the best shot at a Semi Finals berth. We were out of the blocks early, with 4 out of 7 games up through 9. Jake led the way with Mike, with both players having convincing wins, sealing undefeated seasons for themselves. Kurt was complete not long after to get us 3 in the house, and when Trent lagged one up for Par on 16 the deed was done. Dax stormed home from a couple down to win 3&2 also. With the team victory in the bag, the gallery followed Robbie down 17, who provided us with a bit of late drama, chipping in for Birdie. See the last photos for the crowds response! Unfortunately he lost the last to go 1 down, but an overall result of 5-2 was more than we could have hoped for.

The all important phone call was made to Wakehurst GC, and our day was dampened. Wakehurst had lost at home to Springwood meaning another season has wrapped up, and yet another heartbreaking 2nd position on the final ladder. Take nothing away from the squad – this was our strongest showing in many years (4 wins

Cheers, laughs & singing on the bus – our Grade team shines w/ sportsmanship & spirit, win or lose!

With all the cheering, laughing and singing on the bus trip home, most would have thought The Grade team had won today at Mona Vale against Castle Hil instead of going down 4.5/0.5
It was a valiant effort by all, against a formidable team of youngsters.
Deb played well against a talented girl, over 50 years her junior. Sue braved it out for a square against a junior who eagled the first hole. Lynne matched her young opponent right up to the 17th hole. Margi had a great game in her very first grade Pennant match and Robyn played her best game, after stepping up at short notice for Barb who was unable to play.
We should be very proud of our Grade team who play with outstanding sportsmanship and there is a wonderful camaraderie with both the players and caddies.
